Just Add Paint Has Painted Many Houses Built By Garman Homes In Mechanicsburg And The Surrounding Areas.

Every once in a while, a project lands on the schedule that feels like exactly what the doctor ordered. Not a full-house repaint. Not a full kitchen cabinet overhaul with a plastic spray booth and enough masking paper to gift wrap a cruise ship. Just a clean, focused, high-impact interior refresh.

This recent project in Mechanicsburg, PA was one of those.

First things first — shoutout and thank you to Beth W., the real estate agent who referred this homeowner to us. We appreciate you. Referrals are the lifeblood of a local company like Just Add Paint, and we never take that trust lightly.

Working in a Garman Homes Neighborhood (We See You 👀)

The home was located in a neighborhood built by Garman Homes — and if you know, you know. We’ve worked in this community before, and we’re always happy when we get the call to head back.

This house was about a year and a half old and in excellent shape. Now, let’s talk about something that doesn’t get said enough: not all builder-grade paint jobs are created equal.

While most production builders use a basic one-color spray-out process (fast, efficient, minimal frills), the difference is in the prep and the application. With Garman homes, we can consistently expect:

  • Proper drywall prep
  • Even texture
  • Adequate paint coverage
  • Clean lines at trim and ceilings

That may sound like the bare minimum. It is not.

We’ve seen plenty of “brand new” homes where the walls are thirsty, patchy, or so lightly sprayed that they practically blush when you look at them. And here’s the kicker: once you introduce actual color or any sheen at all, every imperfection in that original builder coat suddenly steps into the spotlight.

So Garman Builders — we see you. And we appreciate you.

A Homeowner Who Did His Homework

Now on to our customer.

We were thrilled when he said, “I’ve already done some research and have a few fun colors picked out.”

Music to our ears.

Instead of staring at a wall of 2” x 2” paint chips under fluorescent lighting (which tells you approximately nothing about how a room will actually feel), he came prepared with a solid short list.

Our assignment:

  • Paint all walls in two bedrooms
  • Add two accent walls in two additional spaces

Simple. Focused. High impact.

There are plenty of larger painting companies out there that prefer big, multi-week projects. We love those too. But we also genuinely enjoy these smaller 1–2 day projects. They help round out the schedule, and there’s something deeply satisfying about walking into a house and transforming the energy of four rooms in just under 8 hours.

It’s like interior design espresso shots.

The Color Lineup

Here’s what we worked with:

Painters Near Mechanicsburg
Just Add Paint Loves This Recent Color Combo Added To Garman Homes Built House In Mechanicsburg
  • Sherwin-Williams Sandbar – Already existing as an accent in the living room. Warm, grounded, and perfect for continuity.
  • Behr Permafrost – Light, airy blue. Clean without being cold.
  • Behr Windmill – A soft neutral that plays well with just about everything.
  • Behr Thundercloud – Muted gray with deep blue undertones. Subtle. Moody. Awesome.

The accents — Sandbar and Thundercloud — were done in a true dead-flat finish to match the existing builder-grade aesthetic in those rooms.

The full-room repaints — Windmill and Permafrost — were applied in eggshell for a little more durability and a soft, velvety glow.

The Products (Because Yes, It Matters)

We matched the flat walls using:

  • Sherwin-Williams Promar 400 (Flat)

Promar 400 gets a bad rap in some circles, but when used appropriately, it’s a fantastic tool. In darker accent colors, especially where durability isn’t a huge concern, it provides beautiful, consistent dead-flat coverage.

For the eggshell rooms, we used:

  • Sherwin-Williams Cashmere (Eggshell)

Cashmere is one of our go-to workhorse products. It has a refined, soft aesthetic that avoids that plasticky sheen some eggshells can have. Even better? Through years of trial and error in this exact neighborhood, we know how it absorbs and levels over this particular builder-grade surface. That kind of neighborhood-specific knowledge only comes from experience.

Boots on the Ground

Curtis was on-site to kick things off — making sure colors were confirmed, surfaces were prepped, and the game plan was tight.

Then Rich and Josh “Yoshi” Shultz took it across the finish line.

This job had the perfect rhythm. Just enough cutting and rolling to keep the guys moving steadily without hitting that awkward “now we wait and watch paint dry” lull. Fans were used (always indirect and on low — we’re not trying to create a dust tornado) to assist with drying between coats.

By the end of the day:

  • Four refreshed rooms
  • Two appropriately tired painters
  • One very happy homeowner

And that’s our favorite math problem.

Why We Actually Love Projects Like This

There’s something energizing about stepping away from cabinet refinishing for a day or two. Don’t get us wrong — we love transforming kitchens into showroom-level masterpieces. (And yes, please call us for your cabinets. We will absolutely make your kitchen look incredible.)

But these smaller interior projects? They’re a reminder of how powerful color alone can be.

No demolition.
No dust clouds.
No weeks-long disruption.

Just strategic color placement and clean execution that shifts the entire mood of a space.

If you have a project like this — a few bedrooms, a foyer, a bathroom refresh, an accent wall that’s been living rent-free in your head — don’t hesitate to reach out. We are familiar with Garman Homes neighborhoods in Mechanicsburg, Camp Hill, or surrounding Central PA areas and are already familiar with your walls — and how to paint them properly.

We enjoy these jobs for all the reasons listed above:

  • They fill out the schedule nicely.
  • They deliver immediate impact.
  • They let us stretch different creative muscles.
  • And yes… they give us a well-deserved day out of the shop.

We’re here for the big jobs and the smaller ones that quietly transform a house from “nice” to “this feels like home.”
